In the Mirage comic books, Michelangelo was initially depicted as fun-loving, carefree, happy-go-lucky, and always ready to fight, though much more serious-natured than in film incarnations. After the Turtles' defeat by the Foot Clan, they retreat to a farmhouse in Northampton, Massachusetts, where Michelangelo is not himself, spending days taking out aggression on a punching bag and punching the barn wall until it breaks.
